Dr Michael Oladiran completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 2006, and then a Master in Public Health at Western Kentucky University, USA in 2012. In 2014 Dr Oladiran commenced his Fellowship Training at the Royal College of General Practitioners through the Australia-Practice eligible pathway. In 2016 in Australia Dr Oladiran also completed a Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery.
Following the completion of his MBBS Dr Oladiran spent the initial years of his medical career in internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, surgery and as senior house officer at Sangre Grande Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago. After completing his Master in Public Health in the USA, Dr Oladiran returned to Trinidad and Tobago where he spent the next four years as Senior House Officer in Oncology and General Surgery at Sangre Grande Hospital and attending General Practitioner after hours and urgent care clinic at the Eastern Regional Health Authority and Arima Diagnostic Clinic.
During his time in Trinidad and Tobago Dr Oladiran was also involved in research in Colorectal Cancer - Staging and Management Audit 2011, and current trends in the Incidence of HIV in Trinidad and Tobago.
After moving to Australia and commencing his Fellowship Training, Dr Oladiran undertook a number of rotations as part of the Australia-practice eligible pathway including emergency and acute care, paediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, and geriatrics.
Dr Oladiran’s time in the geriatrics rotation led to him developing a passion for working in aged care. He could see the tremendous difference he could make in the lives of older people as they go through this physically and emotionally challenging part of their life. He is very excited to join the Aged Care GP team and to partner with residential aged care facilities throughout Melbourne.
As well as aged care, Dr Oladiran also has a special interest in research of skin cancer, chronic diseases and mental health.
In his spare time Dr Oladiran loves to explore his new hometown of Melbourne and is an avid sports fan particularly for soccer.
